American Kahron Ross to join the Nix

Cheshire Phoenix have announced the signing of American point-guard Kahron Ross.

Ross was born in Arkansas, USA, and played for the Lehigh Mountain Hawks in NCAA Division 1. The 5’11” guard accumulated 123 appearances (122 starts) during his time at Lehigh and finished as school and Patriot League all-time leader in career assists (660).

“I decided to sign with Cheshire Phoenix because I thought it would be a great fit for me on and off the court,” said Kahron Ross.

“Coach Ben and I had a great conversation over the phone which was also a big part in me wanting to join the squad. I’m looking forward to playing with the team, meeting the fans, and exploring the city.”

Ross was recognized as the Patriot League Rookie of the Year in 2015 before being selected in the Patriot League First Team the following year. He averaged 13.1 points and 4.2 assists per game while shooting 42.7 percent from 3-point range in his senior year.

After graduating from Lehigh, Ross spent his rookie season in Germany’s Pro A league, playing for PS Karlsruhe. He appeared in 31 games (21 starts) and averaged 8.8 points and 4.4 assists per game while shooting 45.5 percent from the floor and 35.5 percent from 3-point land.

The 24-year-old spent the 2019-20 season playing for the Albanian team, Vllaznia Shkodra, in the Balkan International Basketball League, where he averaged 15.5 points and 5 assists per game while shooting 38.9 percent from 3-point territory.

“It is great to have Kahron here next season,” said Head Coach Ben Thomas. “He is a true point guard who loves to get his teammates involved but can also find a way to score on his own, he is also a high-level defender who is ready to lead from the front.

“He played a huge role during his college career and performed consistently, this is something that we expect from him here. I know from speaking to him that he is really hungry to have great year with us.”
