Antwon Lillard finds new home in Sheffield

B. Braun Sheffield Sharks last night announced the signing of Antwon Lillard for the upcoming 2020-21 BBL season.

The announcement was uniquely made via a Sharks Facebook Livestream on Wednesday evening, where the Sharks gameday announcer, Mike Shaft, revealed Lillard and then proceeded with a short interview.

The 6’5″ American Small Forward is a product of Bowling Green State University where he graduated in 2019.

“I’m really looking forward to continuing my professional career in Sheffield,” said Lillard. “I’ve had a lot of communication with their management and coaching staff and I feel like this will be a great fit for me.”

The second year pro out of Cleveland, Ohio, played for the Island Storm in the Canadian NBL last season where he took home 2020 NBLC Rookie of the Year honours.

“Antwon is a talented wing that will bring us more depth on the perimeter,” added Sharks GM Sarah Backovic. “In his first year as a pro he’s proved he can make an immediate impact. We’re looking forward to having him in Sheffield.”

Lillard is the Sharks ninth player announcement so far, joining Mike Tuck, Mackey McKnight, Nicholas Lewis, Rob Marsden, Callum Jones, Bennett Koch, Marko Backovic, and Kipper Nichols.
