The British Basketball League (‘BBL’) and the Women’s British Basketball League (‘WBBL’), in association with Molten, are delighted to announce the adoption of the new Molten BG4500 Basketball as the ‘Official BBL/WBBL Game Ball’.
As part of the continued prospering sponsorship with Molten, the world’s leading manufacturer of sports balls and equipment, the new BG4500 will become the official ball of both leagues in all Championship, Cup, Trophy and Play-Off games beginning with the 2020-21 season.
The adoption of the new BG4500 means that Molten’s distinctive, patented 12-panel basketball has been the exclusive and official ball of the BBL for nearly 15 years.
Made from a premium composite leather, the new FIBA approved BG4500 delivers a new surface texture which gives the ball an optimum grip over the traditional pebble grip basketballs, even when in contact with sweat or moisture, and the original leather texture surface area in contact with the hand is wider by 95% compared to that of conventional pebble surfaces for better grip.
“We’re delighted to introduce the BG4500 to the BBL, and have the ball in the hands of the very best players here in the UK. It is a privilege to work with the fantastic team at the BBL, who are at the forefront of the game here in the UK. We’re excited for many more seasons of action moving forward with the BG4500.
“The BG4500 is an elite level basketball, utilising the grip pattern of a natural leather to offer superior grip for the highest level of play. We’re excited to see the ball used to it’s full potential in the BBL,” said Alex James, Marketing Manager, Molten UK and Ireland.
Andy Webb, Chief Operating Officer, BBL, added, “We’re very excited to adopt the new BG4500 Basketball for the 2020-21 season. We really value our partnership with such a prestigious international sporting brand such as Molten.
“The high-quality balls that Molten provide fit perfectly with our premium sporting position and the Molten range allows easy access to branded balls for every member of our basketball family. The people in the Molten team are truly sporting professionals and also contribute valuable ideas and support to our league.”
