B. Braun Sheffield Sharks last night announced the signing of Kipper Nichols for the upcoming 2020-21 BBL season.
The announcement was uniquely made via a Sharks Facebook Livestream on Thursday evening, where the Sharks gameday announcer, Mike Shaft, revealed Nichols and then proceeded with a short interview.
The 6’6″ Forward just graduated from the University of Illinois after spending four years playing with the Men’s Basketball programme under Coach Brad Underwood and is looking forward to the new season.
“I’ve heard good things about Sheffield and the Sharks as an organisation,” said Nichols. “I’m looking forward to getting there, meeting everyone and getting to work.”
The first year pro out of Cleveland, Ohio, helped the Fighting Illini to a fourth place finish in the Big Ten and a ‘Top 25’ finish at #21 in the AP Rankings before the pandemic cancelled the season.
“Kipper is a versatile forward that can do a bit of everything,” added Head Coach Atiba Lyons.
“He has the size to be effective in the post but can step out to mid-range or three-point range. I think he will help us tremendously on both ends of the floor. We’re excited to add him to our growing roster.”
Nichols is the Sharks eighth player announcement so far, joining Mike Tuck, Mackey McKnight, Nicholas Lewis, Rob Marsden, Callum Jones, Bennett Koch, and Marko Backovic.
